Hello all,

I have a BraillePlus, it powers on, says the version number, but says that a file is missing. It will not be quiet after this error, and I have tried reflashing and factory settings. I believe it was damaged in shipping, but FedEx won't cover a claim. Anyone want it before it goes in the trash or recycling?

why would anyone want a broken braille plus. They can't be fixed these days anymore. That sort of dammage couldn't have resulted from shipping, unless it's a hard drive error. It sounds more like a software error though. Good luck.

Someone might want a diy electronics project? Maybe someone can experiment with swapping the possibly-broken drive with another?

Sure, I'll take it off your hands. Can you give me a quoat for shipping it to the UK? Happy to deal through pm's if you'd rather.

Cheers.

I've got know earthly idea to ship it to the UK. How do I even fix the error?

Hello, just wanted you all to know that the free BraillePlus is still available. The unit turns on, but no keys shut the stupid error message up. I think it is the hard drive; cannot reflash or reset, get the same error message. If interested, please contact me. This is completely free; am willing to ship UPS. Pleas bare in mind that the unit is not working. Don't know what you would even use it for, maybe a collector's item? Anyway, last chance before it goes to a recycling bin.

It's really a shame that you can't figure out how to fix it. I read a bit about the older Braille Plus models, based on Linux, and they sounded exciting. Certainly, they're small and portable and can do a lot.

Hi, does it come with a box and all the accessarries with it? Thanks

Could you please either type out or record the error? I have fixed weird problems with them before, and would like to try to fix yours if possible.

If you still have it, I'm interested in this as well. I'd be interested in either fixing it, or swapping the HD. I think I may be able to open up the unit and do that, should all else fails.

If you swap the HD, how will you get it to work at all, You will not have the right firmware to be able to use it again. Just saying.

image the drive first.

I'm sorry, but image it with what? What files can you find, and how would you write to the drive? Its nonstandard, after all. And could the poster post the error message? I'd like to see what is the problem.
